Register a mark — first month of monitoring free
Tell us the mark, and we'll set up weekly Trade Marks Journal monitoring for it personally. Free for the first month; a paid plan after that.
No spam. We'll follow up personally to get monitoring set up, and let you know well before your free month ends.
A faster first pass, with the reasoning shown.
Weekly monitoring tells you what's new. Judgement tells you what it means. MarkVigilance does the first quickly and keeps the second transparent, so you can check it rather than trust it.
Weekly journal monitoring
Tell us the marks you want watched, once. Every new Trade Marks Journal issue is then checked automatically against your list, so you're notified as soon as a conflicting mark is published — giving you the full opposition window to act, not a shrinking fraction of it.
Textual & phonetic comparison
Spelling compared letter by letter, syllable structure compared, and a phonetic-confusability model tuned to how marks are actually said out loud — catching sound-alike marks that spelling checks miss, and telling apart a sharp ending from one that slurs into the mark beside it.
Visual & layout comparison
Identifies which word or element actually dominates a logo — by size, position and isolation on the label — so the comparison reflects what a consumer notices first, not just a flat read of every word present.
Logo & device-mark similarity Coming soon
Most trademark tools compare words only. We're extending the same rigor to marks that are primarily visual — logos, symbols and devices with little or no text — so a lookalike doesn't slip through just because the wording differs, or isn't there at all. Right now, logo comparison runs on the words written on it, not its shapes or graphics — so a purely graphic mark with no text can't be properly compared yet. That's exactly what this upcoming feature will add.
Precedent, not just scores Coming soon
Relevant Indian decisions on comparable marks, retrieved next to each result to inform your assessment.
Client-ready reports Coming soon
A downloadable PDF with the analysis, scoring breakdown and caveats spelled out, ready to attach to your advice.
Currently tuned for English
The textual, phonetic and syllable analysis is built and validated for English-language and Indian-English marks today. Extending this same depth of analysis to Hindi and other regional-language marks is next on our roadmap — where a comparison falls outside current language coverage, the report will say so plainly rather than guess.
Monitoring tells you something changed. Next, we help you act on it.
Once something is flagged, there's usually a next step — filing, opposing, responding. These are on the roadmap, not live yet.
Trademark filing assistance Coming soon
Guided help preparing and filing a new trademark application in India — from a document checklist through to submission.
Opposition support Coming soon
When monitoring flags a genuine conflict, help preparing and filing the opposition itself — not just the alert that something needs attention.
Full lifecycle support Coming soon
Examination report responses, renewal reminders, and other Trade Marks Registry filings, as they come up over a mark's life.

You hear when something's flagged
If a similar mark appears, we tell you directly — with the reasoning behind the flag, not just a score, so you can form your own view. Precedent lookup and exportable reports are on the way — see below.
The matching behind your weekly alerts, on two real cases.
This is the same matching that runs every week against new Journal issues on your watchlist — live outputs, not mockups, shown here on two marks with a documented history.
NILKAMA vs NEEL KAMAL
Similar — combined score 84.1
A plain word-match would miss this: one is a single word, the other is two. MarkVigilance hears past the spacing — the phonetic signal alone scores 93.3, because said aloud the two are nearly identical.
CIBA vs CIBOL
Borderline — combined score 69.3
Bombay High Court (1957, Ciba Ltd. v. Ramalingam) held these deceptively similar under the first-impression test — the last syllable of CIBOL slurs in speech until it sounds like CIBA. The engine lands this just below its "Similar" cut, correctly flagging it as a close call rather than a clear miss, which is exactly where a practitioner's own read of the precedent should carry the decision.
A blended model, not a keyword match — and validated, not just built.
Every mark on your watchlist is checked against new Journal issues using five independent similarity signals, scored separately and combined with weights set by testing against real outcomes, not guesswork.
Character-level structure
Position-aware edit distance — where in the mark a difference falls changes how much it matters, not just how many letters differ.
Phonetic confusability
A custom letter-substitution model built for Indian trademark names — many of them coined or foreign-origin words — instead of a generic tool designed for everyday English words and Western surnames.
Syllable structure
Compares how a mark breaks into spoken syllables — a separate axis from spelling or a single phonetic code.
Phonetic coding
A Soundex-style code added as a fifth signal after testing multiple phonetic approaches against hundreds of real case-law examples — the combination that measurably improved accuracy over any single signal alone.
Dominant-element detection
Separately scores which word or element actually dominates a mark by size, position and isolation — the visual axis, kept apart from the text signals above it.
Worth being direct about a limit here: all five signals above read text — spelling, sound, structure, and which word is visually dominant. A mark that's mostly or entirely a graphic device, with no words to read, needs a genuinely different kind of comparison — shape and visual pattern, not text. That exists today only as an early, unvalidated prototype, which is why logo-only comparison is marked coming soon, not blended into the score yet.
We tested every signal against real Indian court decisions, not just a handful of examples we liked — checking it gets both close matches and clear non-matches right. Some cases are genuinely hard, where even courts have gone both ways. In those cases, we say so instead of showing a confident-looking score that isn't really confident. That's exactly where the upcoming precedent lookup will help most.

A small team, personally involved from day one.
MarkVigilance is built and run by a small team based in India. During early access, we review and set up every registered mark personally — no ticket queue, no bot reply. Write to us any time, before or after you register a mark.
Straight answers.
What does "early access" actually mean?
Concretely: weekly monitoring and the textual/phonetic/visual comparison engine are live today, set up personally by us rather than fully self-serve. Precedent lookup and PDF export are still being built, not available yet. Trade Marks Journal coverage is still expanding, and every check states exactly what was covered. It also means your first month of monitoring is free, and pricing comes before that month ends — not a vague "beta" label with no substance behind it.
Is this legal advice?
No. MarkVigilance is a research and decision-support tool for professionals. It does not replace a qualified attorney's judgement and does not guarantee any filing outcome.
How does weekly monitoring work?
Tell us the mark you want watched — a wordmark, a logo, or both — and add the Nice class it's registered or used in. From then on, every new Trade Marks Journal issue is checked against it automatically, and you're notified as soon as a similar mark is published — giving you the full opposition window to decide and act, instead of finding out partway through it.
How complete is the data?
We are expanding coverage of Trade Marks Journal issues progressively. During early access, we're upfront about exactly which issues have been checked, so you always know the limits of the result.
How accurate is the similarity analysis?
It is a strong first filter, not a verdict. We validate against real Indian court decisions and are open about where text similarity alone cannot settle a case — those are the cases where the precedent and your judgement matter most. The analysis is also currently tuned for English-language and Indian-English marks; regional-language coverage is on the roadmap, not yet live.
What happens to my details and my clients' marks?
Your details are used to actually run the monitoring service you register for, not just to add you to a list. Our approach is to keep client data secure and hosted in India, and to delete it on request — see the privacy notice for the full picture.
What does it cost?
Register a mark and the first month of weekly monitoring is free. After that it becomes a paid plan — we'll share pricing directly, well before your free month ends, so there's no surprise switch.
